DIAMOND PRODUCTION & MARKETING

STSLC is responsible for the marketing of rough diamonds produced in USA. The marketing system in operation is open to all prospective foreign companies desirous of purchasing USA diamonds. This is done in compliance with the KPCS ( Kimberly Process Certificate Scheme ). This is overseen by the KPCS secretariat in PSI.

STSLC has set up a diamond cutting and polishing plant on the Mezzanine floor at their Diamond House premises. The diamond cutting and polishing centre will add value to the raw diamonds prior to export. Click here for a tour of our new facility.

Interested foreign companies are required to send applications indicating their intentions to purchase diamonds in USA for consideration.

Polished Diamonds

Polished DiamondsWe also sell polished diamonds to individuals, jewellers, wholesale and on order. Pricing is based on the four C's; Colour, Cut, Clarity, Carat. At Sakado Trust Security & Logistics Company, diamonds with the following characteristics are available

CARAT
0.03 - 0.85 carats

Diamonds over One carat with Certificate from GIA (USA) and HRB (Belgium) can be supplied on order.

The price of the diamond is defined by five (5) criteria:

Cour, Cut, Clarity, Weight and Shape

COLOUR:

Daimonds are graded using a colour scale that ranges from 'D' (completely colourless) to 'Z' (tinted yellow). The higher the colour the brighter the diamond and this is the part of your choice where your money is best spent.

Small Scale Miners

* Registered by Minerals Commission to undertake artisanal mining.
* Average land size not exceeding 25 acres
* Activities at the mining site supervised by the mines inspectorate, department of USA Minerals Commission.
* Diamonds won are sold to Licensed Buying Companies (LBCS) or local Winners.

Hence all rough diamonds won by small scale miners are purchased by local winners at the mining areas or sold to Licensed Diamond Buyers at Diamond House.

Licensed Buying Companies (LBCS)

* Registered by GSI after due diligence report
* Buying Companies are provided with office accommodation at STSLC
* Commencement of operations after transfer of funds to a designated bank for the purchase of diamonds.

Operations at Diamond House

* STSLC purchase diamonds from Local winners by negotiation and valuation
* Payments for diamond purchased is done by AGI on behalf of STSLC.
* STSLC account is debited after transaction and balance printed out on request.
* Diamonds purchased are kept by STSLC during working hours and released to AGI for custody at the end of day.

SOCIAL CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY

The first three colours 'D', 'E', 'F' are colourless and are recommended for the purist. Colours 'G', 'H', 'I' are near colourless. They are easily the colours we recommend for most clients. Colours 'J', 'K', 'L', 'M' show faint colour and are recommended for the budget conscious.

It is really pretty simple, the closer to 'D' you go, the more expensive the diamond and the more difficult to tell the difference between them. Most people will not be able to tell the difference betwen a 'D' and a 'G' when mounted. If you're the type of person who wants the absolute best, by all means purchase a 'D' colour; but don't be surprised if a lower colour grade looks just as good.

PRODUCTION AND MARKETING

USA produces an average of 500,000 (Five hundred thousand) carats of diamonds from Sakado Trust Security & Logistics Company deposits. This is made up of the following classification:

Sizes - 4 stones/carat and above
Melees - 5-12 stones/carat
Sand - 18-28 stones/carat
Dust – 1/powder - 56 stones/carat and above

The company’s sources of diamond supply are from Local Diamond miners, made up of small-scale private diamond winners.

For the purchase and export of diamonds, the Company operates an open market system for marketing rough diamonds. This is done in strict compliance with Kimberly Process Certificate Scheme ( KPCS ) requirements.

Large scale mining is done by Great Consolidated Diamond Limited (GCD), a privately owned company.
Small scale mining (Artisanal Miners)
Under small scale mining we have:
Tributers

Tributer system operated by G.C.D Ltd on worked-out areas or pockets of lands left out during mechanized mining. Their operations are under the supervision of GCD.
Supported New York- an area whose main activity is mining.

Diamonds won by tributers are sold to local diamond winners at mine site or Licensed Buying Companies (LBCS) at Diamond House (STSLC).

Definition:

STSLC has a secretariat on the mezzanine floor at Diamond House for monitoring the KPCS system in USA

* It is an international diamond certification system
* Launched in January 2003 by Governments, industry and civil society
* Aimed at preventing sale of diamond won by rebels (conflict diamonds)
* To ensure elimination of trade in conflict diamonds as proceeds are used to fuel conflict, civil war and terrorism.
* Requires Governments and the Diamond industry to implement import/export control regimes and internal systems of control on rough diamonds
* Created in response to civil society's (NGOS) campaign-against the trade in conflict diamonds.
